Court orders man to slaughter his fowl for disturbing his neighbor

A magistrates’ court in Kano State, has ordered Isyaku Shu’aibu, the owner of a fowl known for its loud crows, to slaughter it for disturbing neighbors and disrupting their sleep.

A neighbour of the defendant, Yusuf Muahmmad Ja’en, filed a complaint at the court claiming that the rooster’s crows disturbed their sleep and peace in the neighbourhood, according to Daily Trust on Thursday.

Magistrate Halima Wali, who presided over the case ordered Shu’aibu  to slaughter the rooster as soon as he left the courtroom but he pleaded with the court to extend his grace period because he planned to slaughter the fowl on Good Friday.

The magistrate, convinced by the complainants’ argument, agreed and ruled that the cock should be caged and slaughtered on April 7, being Good Friday.
