Man arrested for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old daughter since her mother’s death 3 years ago

A 56-year-old man, Mr. Ọkpara, from Anambra has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter at his residence in Fegge, Onitsha. 

 

Chidimma Ikeanyionwu, the media aide to the State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinado, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, August 3, 2023, said the suspect has been defiling his daughter since mother’s death three years ago. 

 

“According to the victim, the suspect who is her father started taking advantage of her after her mother’s death in 2020 and became overly protective of her by not allowing other family members, friends and relatives to come close.

 

“Although Mr Ọkpara denied the allegation stating in his defense that his daughter’s inability to work properly is because she fell from the refrigerator, but test results from the hospital where the victim was taken to says otherwise,” the statement read.

Hon. Obinabo, while reacting to the news  promised to get to the bottom of the case assuring that justice must prevail.

 

Meanwhile the suspect will be arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Magistrate court in Awka.
