Ooni of Ife’s royal twins named in traditional ceremony

Following the birth of the royal twins last weekend, their naming ceremony, a cherished tradition, took place eight days later, with great cultural importance.

In line with Ile Ife customs, the princess, named Taiye, was given the names Adesewa, Oreade, and Oluwatamilore Ejide Ogunwusi, Ọmọ Ọọni Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

Likewise, the prince, named Kehinde, received the names Adeshina, Oreade, Ejide, Oluwasemilore Ogunwusi, Ọmọ Ọọni Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

Olori Tobi Phillips, adorned in regal attire, read out the names during the ceremony, surrounded by palace members. Remarkably, the Ooni was absent, adhering to the tradition that prohibits him from seeing his twins at this time.

The revelation of the twins’ names further enriches the legacy and heritage of the Ooni of Ife’s lineage, marking a significant moment in the kingdom’s history.

Congratulations to the Ooni of the source.
